Volunteering Opportunities at Herriot Hospice Homecare
Our volunteers at Herriot Hospice Homecare are the backbone of our organisation; they contribute enormously to all aspects of the Charity and without them we could not continue to provide high standard of care to the local community.
Whether you are able to spare us just an hour or two, or are looking to make a longer-term commitment, there are many ways in which you can help Herriot Hospice Homecare.
Firstly, here are the areas in which you can help, please click the links to the left to find out more about each section and our volunteering opportunities.
Rosie Page - Volunteer Driver and Sitter
"Sitting with, or driving a terminally ill person may sound depressing – it is not. It is stimulating, humbling, interesting and exhilarating, and a very easy way to help people who are going through a very difficult time.
Over the many years that I have worked as a Volunteer for Herriot, I have enjoyed meeting the great variety of patients and their families; I have learnt from some of them, laughed with many of them, looked forward to seeing them, and felt privileged to be welcomed into their homes as a friend. I have countless warm memories of these encounters. The patients and their carers are always extremely grateful; for my part, I most definitely get more out of it than I put in."
