SOMOS: Follow two snowboard mountaineers on a month-long expedition as they travel through the shadows of the mountains, deep in the Alaskan backcountry. A journey that narrates the experience of being human in these raw and isolated environments, beautiful aural and visual delights in an artistic as well as athletic journey. A sheer delight and wonderful opener.
Two Point Four: Not your typical family holiday, but this is not your typical family! Leo Houlding, his wife, Jess and their two children, Freya (9yrs) and Jackson (5yrs) climb Norway’s national mountain via a 2000ft big wall. Not a caravan or hotel in sight but food for thought for the more adventurous families.
Aiguille du Midi Operation: Electric Avenue: Right next to the Aiguille du Midi peak, situated in a sea of mountains at an altitude of 3842m, stands proudly the legendary 50m high granite monolith Gendarme des Cosmiques. For the past 30 years, it hosted only 2 climbing routes, Digital Crack (8a) and Arête des Cosmiques (8a), but this changed on August 10 2022! Raw, hard, technical climbing… but with humour too!
Frankenbiking: A short documentary about tall bicycles, it celebrates the fun, silliness and creativity of tall bikes, exploring why people build them and why people react to the new and unusual. You will marvel at the creativity and quite possibly think, “I want one!”.
Yamnuska: The Ragged Edge: Follow two modern day adventurers as they embark on a rock climbing journey through time, celebrating the rich history and folklore of one of Canada’s most iconic climbing cliffs and paying homage to the colourful characters who have etched their names into its vertical walls since the 1950s. Epic tales, great historic filming and plenty of sweaty palm moments as you watch these vertical adventures.
Desert Wings: Paramotoring is a niche, largely undocumented and little-known sport. This piece brings it to light in a rightfully epic way. It was shot for six days total with multiple paramotor pilots around the southwest region of the United States, highlighting some of the most dramatic desert landscapes. An absolutely beautiful short at only 3:30 minutes long, you’ll wish it was half an hour! It’s brilliant filmic eye candy to leave you on a high.
