Ex-Forces Support

We offer a unique package of support for ex-forces personnel aged 65 or over:

Opportunities to volunteer in one of Herriot's shops - volunteering can help develop skills, confidence and offer opportunities to socialise as part of a friendly, supportive team. Shops are located in Bedale, Masham, Northallerton, Richmond, Stokesley and Thirsk.

Volunteer befriending - Ex-forces personnel can receive regular visits in their own home from specially trained volunteers who offer companionship, a listening ear and help to attend appointments. There are also opportunities to join this team as a volunteer, visiting people living with terminal illness in their own homes to offer befriending support.

Bereavement support - Herriot Hospice Homecare offers personalised, responsive support to people experiencing any type of bereavement. As part of the support package, Herriot is offering a safe and confidential space for ex-forces personnel to express and understand their grief.
