Looking out for our customers at our Richmond shop

With people in our community facing a variety of unique experiences and challenges, it’s vitally important to us that we welcome each individual in a way that is right for them.
Caring volunteers and staff in our shops have been paying special attention to how they can help customers feel at ease. Caroline Laskey, who manages our Richmond shop, explains how her team have been accommodating members of her community:
“Whether it’s by opening the door of our shop or keeping our masks on when behind the screen, we’re keen to help put anyone who is feeling anxious at ease. If someone feels overwhelmed, we’re happy to turn the music off or offer them a chance to look round at their own pace when the shop is quiet.
“We are all being very mindful of how each individual in our community is feeling.
“For someone experiencing anxiety, we understand that it can sometimes feel nerve-racking to come into a busy shop, especially when they haven’t had the opportunity to do so for a long time during the pandemic.
“We want to go above and beyond to reassure customers who are kind enough to support us and to make their experience enjoyable. We welcome them to come and let us know if we can do anything to help them feel more comfortable.
“The same is true for our volunteers. With them generously giving their time to help us, it’s so important for us to create a safe environment that they feel happy in.”
As ever, we try our best to respect every supporter’s individual wishes and to help give them the most comfortable experience possible. Not only because this belief is central to our values, but also because without your support, we would not be able to provide our care and services within the community.
If you or someone you know is experiencing anxiety, you can call our Just 'B' Hear to Help helpline, which is part of our family of services, on (01423) 856 799 from 8am-8pm for support.
