Paving the way for essential Lambert renovations
It has been an exciting start to 2022 with work underway at the former Lambert Memorial Hospital, in Thirsk, as construction teams clear the building in preparation for refurbishment. The planned transformation, with the support of our community, will see Herriot Hospice@ The Lambert become a hub of care for the community, with an inpatient unit, bereavement support rooms, an education centre, café, and community hub.
This important initial stage paves the way for essential renovations which will enable Herriot to offer vital support, tailored to the needs of local people. As we clear the site and look to the future, we also have an eye firmly on the unique heritage of the building, and the ways we can preserve the character of this very special space – carefully retaining and restoring features such as beautiful stained glass, original fireplace and other unique elements from the Lambert's rich history.
At the heart of the Lambert’s story are so many local people, organisations and groups. As we look to the future of this vital community resource, we’re sharing what the space means to local people, and how we’re working together to shape services and continue the legacy of the Lambert. In the coming weeks our Voices of the Lambert series will share the reflections and stories of the people and groups across our community. We’d love to hear your stories of the Lambert – to chat to us, email firstname.lastname@example.org.Article Posted 22nd March 2022
