"Thank you for standing alongside us during this year"
An end of year message from our Chief Executive Tony Collins
As 2020 comes to a close, we would like to say a special thank you for standing alongside us during this year – a year like no other, marked by unprecedented hopes and fears, joys and sorrows.
For many it has been a year of sacrifice and separation, loneliness and isolation, financial worries and anxiety about the future, and across the world, in our communities and families, we continue to grieve the death of loved ones.
Where there have been dark times, it has been overwhelming to see how the light finds a way to shine through. We saw this in the incredible spirit of our community, who pulled together with their care, kindness and support for our country’s nurses, doctors, healthcare assistants, paramedics, housekeepers, shop teams, van drivers and each of our key workers. We thank all these individuals for their continued contribution.
I have seen first-hand the passion, generosity and dedication of our own teams and our partners as we continue to care for people affected by terminal illness and offer much-needed bereavement and emotional wellbeing support.
During Covid-19 we have been truly overwhelmed by the many kind donations and gestures of support we have received – from volunteers, staff and partners ensuring our services can continue, evolve and grow, to those choosing to fundraise for us in new and creative ways. And where restrictions have meant fundraising or volunteering activity has been paused, your kind words and continued commitment are invaluable and so appreciated.
Thanks to this continued community support, maximising our income generation opportunities, where possible, and, with sound financial planning, we have maintained all our care commitments. However, the impact of Covid-19 has undoubtedly been difficult. Service need is increasing, and this picture makes the support of our community now and into the future even more essential.
Once again, thank you for helping us to continue shining for local families this festive season and for illuminating the future as we look forward, with hope, to brighter days in 2021.
From all of us here at Herriot Hospice Homecare, we wish you a safe, peaceful Christmas and new year.
