Sam Turner & Sons choose Herriot Hospice Homecare as its first-ever charity of the year in 2016.
The Northallerton-based store held various events throughout the year, including a skydive which raised £846 and its annual ‘Sammie’s’ family fun day, which raised £1,254.
Seven members of staff also completed The Great North Run, raising a fantastic £2,709 in the process. In total over £5,000 was raised for Herriot Hospice Homecare.
Charlie Turner, one of the Directors at Sam Turner & Sons, said: “As a local business we were keen to choose, as our first-ever charity of the year, a local charity with its heart in North Yorkshire.
“My grand-mother received end of life care from Herriot Hospice Homecare so as a family we can also speak personally about the amazing support the charity provided to us.
“We are delighted to have been able to raise so much money for such a worthwhile charity and we would like to thank our staff, customers and members of the community for supporting all our events.
“We will definitely be continuing our support for Herriot Hospice Homecare in 2017.”
Alexandra Weighell, Herriot Hospice Homecare’s Fundraising Manager, said: “Sam Turner & Sons have been long-standing supporters of the charity and have raised a lot of money on our behalf over the years.
“This is a fantastic amount and will make a significant contribution towards the services we provide in Hambleton and Richmondshire.
