Wensleydale In Words
Wensleydale Writers’ new anthology was launched at an event in Leyburn on 4 July. Profits from sale of the book will support the work of Herriot Hospice Homecare. Patron Rosie Page spoke about the work of the hospice, the stories her father (Alf Wight/James Herriot) wrote about his veterinary life in the Dales, and the determined – and eventually successful – efforts he made to get these published.
Wensleydale in Words is a celebration of the distinctive beauty of Wensleydale in poetry and prose. It focusses on some of the dales’ less well-known features in the belief that these will be of particular interest both to those who live in and around Wensleydale and to its many visitors. The 90-page anthology is attractively illustrated with drawings by David Nash and includes a map showing the geographical location of each contribution.
Wensleydale in Words is available from Herriot Hospice Homecare shop in Bedale and other local retail outlets, price £5. It is also available to order from firstname.lastname@example.org or tel: 01969 640415 (add £2.80 to cover postage and packing).Article Posted 3rd August 2016
