Meet Zoe, one of our registered nurses who will be working from Herriot Hospice at the Lambert. With a special personal connection to hospice care, she explains just why having our six bed unit will be so important to the community.
We’re getting our inpatient unit and other regulated services ready to open as soon as we have approval from the Care Quality Commission: the independent organisation that ensures healthcare services meet high standards.
In the meantime, our Community Hub, Wellbeing Service and Just ‘B’ are all up and running from Herriot Hospice at the Lambert alongside our continuing HOME care across Hambleton and Richmondshire.
Zoe is a Registered Nurse due to be caring for patients at Herriot Hospice at The Lambert.
She says:
“My dad was cared for in a hospice setting and when he progressed to end of life care, I knew instinctively where I wanted him to be.
“The care he received was nothing short of amazing and the whole experience of my dad’s care reaffirmed my decision that I wanted to transition in my career as a registered nurse into palliative care.
“I’ve joined the nursing team that has been put together for Herriot Hospice at The Lambert and I’m excited to start my role.
“I just know it’s going to be a lovely Inpatient Unit to work on and will provide excellent care to the community that is so vitally needed.
“I really like that it’s a six-bedded unit, it will mean that we will really be able to look after our patients and their families and provide personalised and tailored care. Supporting others in the same way that my dad and I were cared for is something that it vitally important to me.”
We know the wait has been long, and we’re deeply grateful for the community’s patience and unwavering support. But with your support, we’ve reopened the Lambert with services that are already making a real impact.
In the meantime, anyone is welcome to attend our Wellbeing drop in (Tuesday, 2-4pm) or pop into our Community Hub (Monday-Friday, 10am-2pm except bank holidays) without referrals.
