Our HOME service offers practical, social and emotional support to help you live at home with confidence, independence and dignity, as well as personalised, compassionate care at home at the end of life.
For over three decades, Herriot has provided care at home in the last days and weeks of people’s lives. We know that people often wish to receive care and support in the place they call home, in familiar surroundings with family, friends and the things that matter to them.
Our expert healthcare assistants visit people in their own homes to provide care in various ways. This could be personal care, support with toileting, washing, mouthcare, dressing, positional changes and bedding changes, as well as supporting the patient and their family with their emotional wellbeing.
The service helps people to return from hospital sooner, feel more comfortable, and achieve their wish to stay in their preferred place of care for as long as possible or until they die.
If you think you could benefit from using a Herriot service, please talk to your GP, district nurse, specialist nurse, consultant or any other healthcare professional involved in your care about your options.
