Digital support from Herriot Hospice Homecare

Our digital support service offers people practical help with online tasks. This comes as part of our mission to make sure everyone has the care and support they need at the end of their lives. We’re here to help you:

  • Book an appointment online
  • Log on to a video call
  • Manage health information and records online
  • Keep in touch with friends and relatives
  • Do anything else digitally and you’d like to ask questions

You are welcome to book an appointment with one of our digital champions to help you with tasks like these. Please email digitalhub@hospice-care.org.

With parking limited and available for disabled visitors only, we ask that you please park in Thirsk town centre. Thirsk Market Place car park is 3 minutes’ walk away: free for the first hour and £1.40 for up to 2 hours.

Support GroupsCarers Plus YorkshireSupport for carers and the wider community, offering coffee mornings in Richmondshire & Leyburn for carers.
Support GroupsHambleton Community ActionOffering a range of practical and supportive services that foster economic, social and community wellbeing: driving services, coffee mornings, befriending service etc. Also have a directory of local events on their website.
Mental HealthSamaritansEmotional support for anyone in distress. You don't have to be suicidal to call. Support available via phone, email, webchat or face to face.
Mental HealthNorth Yorkshire Out of Hours Mental HelplinePeople in North Yorkshire can contact TEWV crisis services 24/7 using the Single Point of Access telephone number 0800 0516 171, The new number makes it easier for those in mental distress, including children, older people and those with learning difficulties and/or autism to get urgent help.
A confidential and anonymous service available to anyone registered with a North Yorkshire GP.
Providing a listening ear, emotional support, signposting and referral into other services for individuals and the carers of people experiencing mental distress.
Open from Monday to Thursday, 5pm to 8.30am
Open on a Friday from 4.30pm (24 hours at the weekends, including bank holidays)
Mental HealthSanelineA national mental health charity providing information and emotional support to anyone affected by mental illness, 4:30pm-10:30pm daily.
National telephone helpline for anyone coping with mental illness, including concerned relatives or friends.
AddictionAdfamDifferent types of support for family members of someone who has an addiction (alcohol, substances, gambling). There are lots of resources on their website, including on-line groups, one-to-one support sessions and information videos.

Mental HealthThe MixOne to one focused support with a trained team, either by phone, webchat, or email. Specifically for the under 25s. Covers all mental health issues including self-harm, eating disorders, depression and anxiety.
Mental HealthBattle ScarsCharity that aims to support people who self-harm and support family, friends and carers (aim of removing the stigma). Support online and groups run in Leeds to help educate professionals about the issues of self-harm.
Mental Health - Eating DisordersFirst Steps EDA national charity providing emotional support and practical advice to anyone affected by an eating disorder in the UK. A dedicated support line for those suffering with anorexia or bulimia, as well as support for the family and friends of those with eating disorders.
For people struggling with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating, in addition to related self-harm.

Charity dedicated to the prevention of male suicide. They provide telephone, Whatsapp or webchat support year round, as well as education and support for families and friends post-suicide.

Peer support to families affected by PP through the forum, one to one support and workshops. Research into the causes of Postpartum Psychosis, treatments for this illness and what helps families to recover.

BereavementSurvivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS)Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide exist to meet the needs and break the isolation experienced by those bereaved by suicide. They are a self-help organisation who aim to provide a safe, confidential environment in which bereaved people can share their experiences and feelings, so giving and gaining support from each other.
BereavementJust'B' Bereavement SupportJust ‘B’ is part of Herriot Hospice Homecare’s wider charity: a specialist bereavement support and emotional wellbeing service helping children, young people and adults across the communities of North Yorkshire, as well as offering specialist support regionally and nationally.
Mental HealthIDASIDAS is a specialist charity that provides comprehensive support services to anyone experiencing or affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence. Our services include refuge accommodation, community-based support, peer mentoring, group work and access to a free, confidential 24-hour helpline.

VeteransOp RESTOREVeterans Physical Health and Wellbeing Service - an NHS service that supports individuals who have served in, or are leaving, the UK Armed Forces and have continuing, physical health injuries and related medical problems attributed to their time in the Armed Forces. It is hosted here at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

WellbeingHerriot Hospice Homecare Wellbeing Drop-in Weekly drop-in, which is open to anyone affected by terminal illness, bereavement or emotional wellbeing. The drop-in is a place for people to come and have an unstructured and informal chat about any concerns, enjoy a hot drink and meet with peers. Held in Thirsk on Tuesdays.
BereavementJust 'B' Bereavement Drop-in Drop-in sessions which provide a space to explore and express your grief, supported by a specialist support worker. Held monthly in Northallerton.
Mental HealthJust 'B' Hear to HelpHelpline for anyone feeling isolated, experiencing anxiety, of low mood, experiencing bereavement, or struggling with aspect of emotional wellbeing or mental health. Can be accessed via phone, text or email.
