Volunteer Visitors

Herriot’s range of volunteer-led community services are delivered by trained and supported volunteers, and available to anyone over 18 years of age living with terminal illness across Hambleton and Richmondshire.

Herriot’s befriending and sitting volunteer-led services provide reliable social and emotional support to people in their own homes. Volunteer support can range from help with simply being there and listening to supporting carers to get that valuable break.

Referrals can be made for patients over the age of 18, with a palliative diagnosis and expected to be in the last 6 months of life. Referrals can be made via our referral form. Please email: wellbeing@herriothh.org.uk or call (01423) 878 189 for any questions. Current services include our drop-in and Volunteer Visitors.

All Volunteer Visitors are fully trained and are supported by a range of Herriot Hospice specialists. They are supervised by members of the patient care team and are thoroughly checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
