Hospice Overview

Who we are:

Established by local people in Northallerton in 1992, Herriot Hospice Homecare provides free, personalised care to enable people to live comfortably and with dignity in the place they call home during the last days and weeks of their lives.

Each year, we support around 600 people in the Hambleton and Richmondshire area via services including: end of life care, bereavement support, respite care, befriending, complementary therapy and a driving service. This practical and emotional support helps patients and their families manage during a very difficult time.

In order to continue providing this service free of charge to those in our community living with terminal illness and bereavement, we need to raise one million pounds each year and we rely on the generosity of our local community to do so.

“It is a pleasure to be able to care for people in their own homes in their last days and weeks of life, build up a relationship with them and support them to have as much choice and control as possible. It truly is an uplifting role - everyone I support is different, each person has their own story, and we often get to know patients and their families.”

The charity’s services are provided in the area of Hambleton and Richmondshire in North Yorkshire, as shown on the map below.
