An open garden and duck race event last weekend in Great Ayton together raised over 5,000 for Herriot Hospice Homecare.
The weekend attracted over 500 people to visit the 15 gardens in the village. This event was the first of its kind for the local hospice at home service. The weekend also saw the charity host their annual Duck Race on the Sunday drawing a huge crowd to the banks to cheer on the winner.
Visitors enjoyed refreshments in various gardens and had an opportunity to buy plants and books. A tombola stall ran over the weekend and was stewarded by Great Ayton Girl Guides on the first day.
We were overwhelmed by the amazing support we received over the weekend. The people of Great Ayton were lovely and the weather was perfect and helped to draw in the crowds to the 15 gardens.
Our brilliant supporters put so much effort into the event, making their gardens look beautiful and they were always on hand to swap knowledge and chat to the many visitors.
Thank you all for helping us raise so much money we couldn't have done it without you.
