Pen-Y-Ghent Peak challenge
17th September 2022

One Peak Challenge:

This exclusive event offers an experienced Mountain Leader to guide and support you to complete the route up to the summit of Pen-y-Ghent, one of the famous 'Yorkshire Three Peaks’.

A circular route is taken from/to Horton-in-Ribblesdale over Pen-y-Ghent, taking in the summit at 2,277ft (694m). The walk heads along the walled Horton Scar lane, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding area, until Tarn Bar is reached. From here we ascend the Pennine Way path to the summit.

After taking in the views from the top - on a clear day you can see Scafell Pike and the mountains of Snowdonia - we return back to Horton-in-Ribblesdale via Brackenbottom. The route is approximately 10km (6.2miles) long with 1607ft (490m) of ascent and will take most people between 4 to 6 hours to complete.

Our Yorkshire Peaks challenges are provided by Large Outdoors who will provide fully trained guides and first aiders on the day.

You will be in a team with other Herriot Hospice Homecare and Saint Michael’s walkers who will keep your spurred on.

We will provide a fundraising pack for all walkers which will include a kit list, FAQ’s and an itinerary. Along the route we will provide treats and refreshments to keep you going strong!
