HERRIOT HOSPICE HOMECARE - Your Local Hospice at Home

Services for Patients and their Carers

Herriot Hospice Homecare is a small local charity based in Northallerton, North Yorkshire and it works as part of the palliative care team enabling patients and carers to cope at home.

The Charity works alongside District Nurses, the Macmillan Team and Specialist Nurses.

Referrals are accepted from Hospital Nurses, Doctors, Specialist Nurses or Social Services.

The End of Life Care Service :-

This service becomes available when a Doctor or Senior Nurse, in consultation with colleagues, decides that a patient is in the very end stage of their illness.

Herriot Hospice Homecare may be asked to provide personal care services to the patient at home.

We provide Healthcare Assistants who are specially trained in palliative care.

The cost of this service is met by the Hambleton and Richmondshire NHS Primary Care Trust and therefore free of charge to the patient of carer.

Volunteer Services :-

Sitting Service - Trained Volunteers are available to stay with patients in their own home in order to enable their carer to have a break for two or three hours. They could lend a hand with small practical tasks.

Befriending Service - A Volunteer can provide companionship and support during difficult times. They may visit in the home, take you shopping or for a drive, or just be there.

Driving Service - Help with transport is offered when family and friends are not available and an ambulance service would be too uncomfortable or inappropriate.

Patient Grant Service - Small grants are available to help with urgent needs for items which may provide comfort or practical help.

Aromatherapy Service - Trained Aromatherapists are part of our team. Aromatherapy may help alleviate some symptoms such as sleeplessness and anxiety.

New Services - We are currently developing further services including Acupuncture, Reflexology and Beauty Treatments.
