We are chartering an afternoon ride on the Wensleydale Railway on Sunday, March 18. This Mothering Sunday special will take a scenic tour through Wensleydale, from Leeming Bar to Redmire, near Leyburn. The picturesque views will be accompanied by relaxing  music and a delicious afternoon tea of scones, sandwiches and cakes.

The  train will depart from Leeming Bar station at 12.00pm, returning at 2.40pm. Tickets are £20 per adult and £15 for under-16s.

Prior to the nine-mile moonlit stroll around Northallerton, Walkers will be given the chance to reflect with the opportunity to release environmentally friendly Wish Lanterns in memory of loved ones.

Registration for the event, which costs £8 and a minimum donation of £5 is requested for a lantern.

The walk will start and finish at the Charity’s offices on Thurston road where refreshments will be served after the walks conclusion.

Walkers are asked to raise funds for the charity, which helps patients with life limiting illness in their own homes throughout Hambleton and Richmondshire, by getting as much sponsorship as possible.

Last year, more than 40 supporters took part in the event and raised £2,558 towards the charity’s running costs. This year, Herriot Hospice Homecare is hoping to beat both achievements.

Victoria Hodgson a Fundraiser for the charity said: ‘The 20^th anniversary of Herriot Hospice Homecare is the perfect opportunity to make this the biggest and best Midnight walk yet! It’s a good way to celebrate or reflect with your friends and family.’

Those wishing to get involved but unable to do the walk are being asked to act as volunteer marshalls to help with the event.

Over the years, Yorkshire Farm Stay members have hosted and raised thousands of pounds for charity through the annual Big Breakfast beano. Once again, hearty Yorkshire farmhouse breakfasts will be served up at Lovesome Hill Farm, with all food sourced on the doorstep in support of local suppliers.

Local businesses and food suppliers have already offered to support the event through sponsorship and product donations. They include Barclays Bank, Darlington, Lloyds TSB Agriculture, Cummins Young Accountants, Thirsk, fellow Farm Stay member Crakehall Water Mill, Stamfrey Farm, Northallerton, Acorn Dairy, Archdeacon Newton, Spring House Farm Shop, Scruton, JM & S Greengrocers, Northallerton, Beavers Butchers, Masham, Yorkshire Dales Meat Co, Patrick Brompton, and Shortridge in Topcliffe.
